Howdy : )

:imnewhere: I posted this question in the wrong forum last night...
I have what I hope is a pair of Jack Dempseys. They've been living together in a community tank for a couple of years. I gave them their own 55-gallon about three weeks ago and there's been a lot of activity ever since. They've been pretty rough on each other, but I hope it's love, not war. I'm posting a photo in hopes that someone can tell me if Jax and Jacinta are a COUPLE or if I'm trying to mate two same-sex Dempseys. (How embarrassing would THAT be?) I'm thinking that if the latter is true, the relationship would be much more violent...

I really can't tell from the photo but if they are near same age the male should have less blue spots and blotches around his gill plates , and the males will have a longer flowing dorsel fin.hope this helps. If u can get a larger pic I;m sure I could be of more help.(blush) But since you've put this in correct forum I'm sure someone can give u a better response.:hmm3grin2orange:

For some reason, your photo is not opening up to a larger photo. It's hard to tell from that size photo so try to post one that's larger.

We have a couple here that are very knowledgable on these fish and I'm sure they will respond.

Are you seeing any breeding tubes?
