Are there any absolute sure ways to sex bristlenose plecos?

I've had one in my tank for a little over a year that's about 4 inches long with a good face of bristles who has taken up a home in a nice faux log. I'd like to get another one for the tank and if possible I'd like to have a breeding pair. I've read that only males have bristles but I wasn't sure how accurate that was.

Any info would be great.

Sounds like a male to me. Usually females have slim to none bristles.

At a little over 3" they're clearly sexable; males will have a snout covered with bristles, females will either be smooth or may have a few small stubs.
