Hi, Iīm here to show some pictures of my pond. The photos are from my garden in Brazil. I had hard times looking for this kind of ponds in the internet, more natural as possible.
Have just a UV lamp and no mecanic filter.Have a lot of fish species like kois, nishikoi, ciclids from my region, plecos(one of them have almost 70cm!!) dojos, lots ofPhalloceros caudimaculatus to feed my two catfishes. Have one tertle too.
Thats it, sorry my English.

Nice looking pond. What kind of temperatures do you get there?

Thank you!

In winter we have 4 degrees some days, but that is the lower temperatures it gets. And in summer hits the 38 degrees. Today is 33 degrees.
Summer is not good for kois, but we have the low temperature that this kind of fish needs.

sweet pond! looks like plants do most of your filtration. if you do ever decide to build a filter for it, there are some great, simple options for your pond. wet/dry trickle tower (using stackable drawers), garbage pail filter, or even a bog filter.

btw, welcome to the forum and keep us updated. :22:

Crispy, thats right, the plants do the dirty work! But one thing that helps a lot is one waterfall, it is one step in this that accumulates sediments! One or two time a month I clean this area and I can see how much sediment it gets!

I would like to build a filtration system, and I know some kinds of it, but this ones you told me, I didnīt understand, can you tell me more?
Maybe some links with DIY projects of this kind of filters you told me?

Thank you very much!

Aeonflame built this bucket filter...

I copied his concept and built a large one out of a garbage pail...pics of mine on the pond can be seen here...

here is my wet/dry trickle tower... you could build a much larger version out of cheap stackable drawers...
http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=53376

both would work well on your pond and are super simple and cheap to make :fish:
