Hello everybody. I stumbled across this site and found it interesting, I currently have a 55 gal freshwater tank. The tank has been set up for 4 years. I have a millennium 3000 power filter and use a air pump with dual out outs using 1 6 " wall stick and 1 other air stone. I currently have a 6" and a 3" Parrot fish, ( I know al the bad pub, but I find them colorful and interesting) 2 6" silver dollars, a 7' silver type of Tetra ( I believe that it is what it is it is silver in color with orange tails and) 1 4" Geo Phargis, 3 different African Cichlids about 4' long, 1 4' pleo, and 1 7" striped catfish. I know that sounds like a lot of fish but I do frequent water ( about 10 gal every 10 days) and filter changes and have had only one problem about 2 years ago. I had 2 nice 8" Severums a gold one and a green one. Within a 2 week period both developed the "hole in the head disease and I lost both of them. My main food is Tetra large flakes and also use frozen shrimp bribe and Cichlid sticks. I would like to have a Frontosa but do not know if I have the space. I am researching and thinking of setting up a salt water tank this winter. Besides my regular job I am also a Keyboard player in a jazz blues band and find the fish a very relaxing hobby and they also serve as a nice inspiration for my music composition. Glad to meet everybody and hope to pick up a few tips on the salt water tanks from these forums,

Take Care
John

Welcome to AC:22:

A few members have recently set up saltwater tanks, so if you need to know anything, just ask and I'm sure they will pass on there knowledge, or if you do a search theres been a lot of threads lately about saltwater.

Welcome aboard to the Aquatic Community. It sounds like a busy tank. I suggest increasing your water changes to 25% of the tank's volume and perform them every Saturday or once a week. Good luck and may God Bless.

Funny you mention that , The last 2 weeks I have changed about 20& of the water. I change the filters in my Milleniunm about every 2-3 weeks. The only fish that gives me any problems is the Plecos' , seems likei havwe trouble keeping them . The one I have know is about 8 weeks in teh tank and I noticed that ir is gettimg lighter in color. I watch The PH and drop a Algai tab in about every other night, In the 4 years I have had the tank this is my 4th.
