As some of you folks know, I am slightly India gaga.

This includes my living room interiour as well. On E-bay I found some cute "OM" pics, but alas not really cheap. So, as I am not completely stupid, I just took my acryl painting stuff, and did a pic myself.

Its almost finished, some subtleties have still to be done. But I am still unsure which color the "OM"sign shall have. Maybe golden, maybe copper, maybe...you folks can give me a nice inspiration:ezpi_wink1:

So: OOOOoooommmmm...:ezpi_wink1:

are you into meditation? I am, but don;t do it all that much. Om mani padme hum I remember means something along the lines of (actually I can't remember squat, right now, I am thinking of Om shanti shanti which means "peace". ) Meditation is interesting and I have found it extremely helpful for me in more ways than one. Some Indian lore here: Om in the Indian Vedic texts is believed to be the sound the universe was created by. Btw I am heavily into stuff like that all kinds of spirituality and such. I have some skill at meditation but am in no way an expert:) oh and your mandala (the om symbol) is cool. I'd go with silver personally.

Hmmm Meditation...not really or maybe not yet. I am really not sure.

In the moment its just the beautiful Indian stuff, like cushion covers, table runners, pictures of the deities (Hinduism is really really complicated, believe me), of course Sarees and the Indian cuisine.

On the other hand, meditation could really help me, to see things in a more relaxed way. Maybe i really should give it a try.

I LOVE GULAB JAMUN! There is an Indian grocery store near one of the LFS and they have some ready made mixes you can easily whip up at home. Takes about 10 minutes or less:) well, the gulab jamun takes about 1 hour but still........I made some one time but it came out like pancake mush ohwell still tasted good. Although, I think I soaked it in the syrup a LITTLE too long boy did I have my sugar fill! LOL

@ Darkstar

Your shop, I guess, has these Jamuns

Then when making them, just use less water or milk as it is said on the instructions. :ezpi_wink1:
The first time I made them, I followed the instruction, and the dough was a weird mass also, and the Jamuns fell appart. Man that was a messy job to clean the oil:jaws:

@ Rue
Thank heaven I dont play chess:ezpi_wink1:

My brother works in a lab with 2 sri lankan people. Their food, be it spicy, is amazing. I would imagine Indian food would be somewhat the same?

Hmmm its South Indian food. In India you have as everywhere, regional differences. For example Gulab Jamun is a northern India dessert.

And if I am not mistaken, in southern India people eat rice more often as in northern India, there you will find bread more frequently. Then in the northern parts you will find the "Moguln" cuisine. Its an islamic inspired food, very tasty and of course with beef. In the coastal areas there is of course fish, crabs, shrimps and things like this.

And not to forget Goa, this region was occupied by the Portugese in the 15th and 16th Century, this is an Christian inspired cuisine, means you will find Vindaloo (mostly cooked with pork).

Ah the southern cuisine is hotter (spicier) than the northern one.

I love Indian bread, I like how they fry it even if that isn;t good for you with all the oil and such. There is a recipe website I personally love, it is not just Indian food but they have all kinds o stuff, from drinks (alcoholic and non), desserts, main dishes, side dishes, sauces, etc. etc. the info is straightforward and to the point and some of the 'recipes' are incredibly easy to make some only requiring 3-4 ingredients.

here is the website, I can;t link here you'll have to type it in-
