36x18x16 My silver dollars are going in that tank (I think) since I can't have them and plants in my larger tank. Don't know what happened to the 75/90 I have planned on. Guess I will continue to sit and just look at the stand for awhile longer.

Very cool! I really like the depth to those breeder tanks!

The smaller one was 12 inches and I wanted more height than than. I can't "picture" it in my head so maybe it won't work for the silver dollars at all. I'll just have to set it up and see if they look to have enough room. If not, I'll just put community fish in it and maybe one or two squabbling angels.

It's going on my bedroom dresser. No need to buy a stand!

Noice purchase! I really like the dimensions of breeder tanks. They arent generic.

If you don't mind me asking..What's the difference between breeder tanks and standard tanks?

Sounds cool Hobbs. I know you will but I still have to remind ya to share some pics as soon as you get it home & all set up.

Breeder tanks are not as high. The 30 gallon, for instance, regular tank is 36x12x16 but the breeder 30 gallon is 36x18x12. Same length but wider and shorter.

I think I have changed my mind already and will just get a 40 long. That will be 48x12x16 and give them more length for swimming. By tomorrow, I may change my mind again. I am a female, after all.

Hobbs,
If you can find 'em, try Red Hook Mets (Myleus rubripinnis) for your silver dollar species. Lots of veggies plus twice weekly meaty food (mysis is perfect) and they become the most colorfull silver dollar.

Trying to find them is another whole thing. I was thinking I'd have to order some online.

They used to be quite common in stores, as my dad had a group of them in the 70's. Who knows why stores quit carrying them (can you say African cichlids, I think you can . . .)

I do think the 40 long tank better for them tho, don't you. I know the red hooks get even larger. Maybe I can find them at the fish store an hour from me. Will check it out for them.

Red hooks do reach about eight inches, but it takes them a while, as they slow down considerably after they pass five inches. Six of them in a 40 breeder would be a picture.
Might want to keep a little planted tank on the side to keep those veggie pirhanas fed . . .

I changed my tank order today to a 40 gallon long instead of a 40 gallon breeder. Now my fishies will have 48 inches of swimming space lengthwise.

If one of you would show up with a truck and some muskles, I could go get that 90 gallon but can't get it in my car and have no muskles.
