new filter

Well I just went and got a 2nd filter for my 55 gallon, an aquaclear for up to 70 gallons. I was wondering if it would be ok to add the filter now, since my tank is still cycling. Will it slow/alter the progress?

Now is the best time to do it - this way a lot of bacteria will grow on it. If you wait until the tank is cycled you will get some bacteria on it but not nearly as much. (There won't be enough surplus ammonia to support it)

Make sure you keep the filter that is currently on it as well.
