theyre scavengers mostly. they will eat any leftover food like flakes etc.

they will also munch on algae
I think they are a pretty good addition to a tank.
I love my snails! But they have a HUGE appetite...I feed algae wafers every 2 days...about 1 per 2 snails...
I also feed zucchini...and I tried carrot...
And watch out...they'll try to get out of the tank through any opening they can fit through...

thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Will also pick up algae wafers when I get my snail.

i bought a gold mystery snail to help algea control in my 33gal. it was fine for 3 weeks but then it disappeared. after about 4 months i bought a pleco to replace him. the next day the little snail was back to crawling about. that night, to my horror, the pleco was suckered on to the open end of the snail. i tried to separate them but it was too late:( darkstar824, remember this story

I have 5 apple snails in my 55 and they love algae wafers, I guarantee you I can walk in there and there will be at least 3 on one. They are HUGE also, possilbe 3" diameter on them suckers. I agree with them getting out, mine have and I have finally put a stop to it.
