How many if any yellow labs could i keep in a 20 gal
and would there be any possible room for anything else?

its recommended that you dont keep cichlids besides rams in tanks under 30g. it could be done in a 20g but the fish would be stressed.

Well, mbunas need to be kept in large groups to keep down aggresion. However, you certainly can't very many in a 20g, so there will be aggresion issues.

The minimum ratio of male to female is one male per three females, so I would say a 1.3 group of 4.
