We have always had very stable pH of 8.0. Now suddenly it is up to 8.4 (poss. even 8.8), but only in one tank. It's a bolivian ram tank, with driftwood and plants. Nothing that should cause a high pH. All other parameters are fine. 0 ammon . 0 rites and rates. So strange?

Is your tank cycled? Did you mention you have 0 nitrates? If in fact your tank is not cycled, you can not use pH readings during the cycling process because they will not stay stable.

Yes, its been cycled for months and months since its been set up. It's planted which is probably why there is 0. And it hasn't had meds or anything. Only thing that has been added is Nutrafin plant gro. Could that have messed w/ the pH.

Rams prefer a pH of around 6.5. I think 8.0 and above is too high for them.

Well our LFS keeps them at 8 and above... and they're breed at 8 and above. So I think they'll be okay

Eight is too high for Rams, for sure. It could be the stuff you added. Try water change, and if it is the added stuff, it should drop. Have you done the test right--reagents fresh, etc.
