Hey guys!
I have a 40 gallon tank with currently a school of Tiger Barbs (5) and a Red Tail Shark. I was planning on waiting to add another fish but my dad said we can add another one before I go back to school!
I think I want a cichlid, any suggestions??
I was thinking maybe a convict or something, thoughts? suggestions?
thanks

What about a pair of Kribbs or Rams instead. They are less aggressive and not bad looking.
You asked. :hmm3grin2orange:

No joke, my favorite cichlids are Rams thats why the grin. If I had it my way everyone one would have some.
If your tank is properly cycled and your doing weekly water changes using a good de-chlorinator, you shouldn't have any problems with keeping Rams.
Those tiger barbs are very active and have been known to nip fins but you have a school of them so they should keep each other company and leave the larger cichlids alone.

A convict would be a nice hardy fish. Firemouth and Rainbow are also nice smaller cichlids that are hardy.

Agree with any of the above suggestions. You may also want to consider upping the number of TBs you have, it helps disperse their aggression and peskiness.
