I'm struggling to get the pH in my tank down to acceptable levels. Right now, I'm using distilled water, changing about 15% every other day, but haven't made much of a dent in the pH (currently at 8.0). If I can't get the pH to come down this way, the guy at the LFS suggested keeping a couple of small cichlids, which would be much more suitable to my water parameters. Only problem is that I only have a 10g tank. Could I get away with keeping maybe 2 dwarf cichlids in this size tank if theyv'e got plenty of places to hide, i.e. rocks, caves, etc? Maybe something with a max size of 3-4"... Any thoughts?

Livebearers like guppies or platies will work great. Go for all females though.
