View Full Version : shrimp pest
Help!! I have a colony of tiny micro shrimp like organisms destroying my amazon & crips. These pests seem to be sucking and cutting the leaves at the base of the stem.Convicts control their population but dig up all the pots.Copper sulfate eliminate their numbers ,kill the fish andretards the growth of the plants and their numbers are back in 6 weeks. How can I get rid of these pests?

Those are scuds. Corydoras would probably eat them, and will not uproot stuff.

I have never heard of scuds eating live healthy plants. Its my belief your plants are not doing well for other reasons and the scuds [if thats what they are] are simply eating the decaying plant material. The copper sulfate you added has basically poisoned the tank and is not good for plants either. Tell us more about your tank such as size, water parameters, temp, and lighting.

Simply buy a species of snail that might be able to eat them if im correct, some snails might eat shrimp (not sure) hopefully they will
