coconuts?

I've been hearing about this lately... in a thread here somewhere, and saw it (I think) in megans betta tank picture in the TOTM. How do you ready a coconut for the tank? Or are they fake?

They are real. I think all Megan did was cut it in half, get all of the meat out, boil the heck out of the shell, and you're done. I'm sure she'll see this post and add more if need be.

OFF TOPIC: (My wife is from Morgantown and I got both of my degrees from there).

Ok well i have oen too, heres how i did it:

Buy a coconut form a super market, make a small hole with a screw and let it leak first ( VERY IMPORTANT STEP) Once it's empty, you cut it in half. Choose the side you want to use and empty it ( i used a flathead screwdriver) and then make the doorway. Once you have all that, you boil it ( i did 5 times 20 mins and changed water everytime.

I'm going grocery shopping tonight, and am going to get a couple to try out. Think I'll have to buy a nice sharp knife though, mine aren't that great.
