ill be home the 21st. before that tank sale ended i ordered it. they had no 46g bowfronts so i got a 50g long with 2 canister filters.

im staying in tonning for the rest of the trip. i already drove to holland, amsterdam, denmark, belgium, etc.

i literally saw a crazy tank at a hotel here. a 29g with 10 baby auratus, and 10 other africans with 2 underwater filters.

as for the 50g long, i either want a oscar or goldfish.

did i get the phone call from hell last night. the person taking care of my tanks called and said that the canister filter on my peacock tank wasnt working and it had been off for 24 hours. i was crapping myself and couldnt think what to do. i do have a few spare aquaclears and fluval canisters but the hose lengths arent right. i told them to just replug it and if it didnt work to call my uncle and let him figure something. they tapped the canister and it worked, just airlocked. all the peacocks and 2 platys in the tank survived a whole 24 hours with no filter, just a heater and light. the first thing that came to mind when they said something was wrong was that the 33g salt for some reason was leaking. thank god it wasnt that bad

Mine made it during that awful power outage I had for 21 hours but I was pouring water back and forth all night long. I wonder if you just had a power bump and the filter didn't restart.

You'll be home just in time to vote in the contests! Have fun and stop worrying.

lol, thanks.

i went back to the lfs here today and i saw a 50g long. it had 6 giant gouramis and about 30 guppies. 50g longs look nice.

Most aquariums and fish will be fine for a couple of days without a filter or even a heater. It's not something that I'd want to practice on a regular basis, but you don't need to panic if the power goes out for a few hours or if your filter craps out and you need to go get a new one.

When I went to PA in June, I had my husband taking care of the fish. Apparently a car pulled out infront of a cement truck about 1/2 mile away from our house and knocked out about 4 power lines. The power was out for some time....I thought for sure I was gonna lose some fish on that one. Thankfully I didn't! Glad your fish are okay and that it was just a small glitch!

thanks everyone.

they called again and said that everything was fine, all the fish were healthy and no cloudy water. the tank is overstocked but i have a filter for 220 gallons on it so it keeps it healthy.

im itching to get to that 50g long. the bad thing is the time change between here in canada. its about 2:51am in canada so its 10:51am here now, a 8 hour difference. after the plane i have to drive 3 hours from calgary to edmonton. i should be in edmonton at 5pm.

and i havent seen tv for almost a month now. the motorhome never came with one and only the bars here have tv. the only tanks ive seen besides the store ones were 2 in a bar, a 29g with tons of mbuna and a 55g with 2 turtles in the same bar.

Good to hear everything went well.

9 hours difference for me (living in Pacific Standard Time), jet lag and time change is something you get used to after a few years of regular travelling across the Atlantic. BTW, are you departing from London again to Calgary on Air Transat? (sorry to be so nosey, but I'm an airplane fanatic :) )

Too bad, there are lots of really funny shows on TV in Germany. Was Guckst Du?, Bullyparade, Mensch Markus, just to name a few.

German Wings is a great airline, it's the low-fare subsidiary of Lufthansa. My condolonces on FlyGlobespan though, I haven't flown them myself, but I haven't heard too many good stories with them yet.

Just in case you're interested, you'll be on an Airbus A319 with German wings and a Boeing 767-300 with FlyGlobespan.

Regardless, I hope you have a great and safe flight back!

That's what I miss about Europe. Flying has become extremely affordable thanks to the influx of low-fare carriers there. Just as an example, back in October 2004, my cousin and I took a week off and flew from Frankfurt to Barcelona, then on to Paris, then on to Milan and back to Frankfurt for less then $100 taxes, fees and surcharges included. You can't even fly from Calgary to Vancouver one way on Canada's *cough* "low fare" *cough* airline for that.

In regards to the 50g long tank, glasscages has them ....
