My name is Chris, and I'm from Utah. I haven't been around fish for a long time. (about 15 years) I had goldfish (fantails) in a 10 gal. Needless to say, they kept dying save for one huge fantail. Finally it caught ich and died. I want to care for tropical fish this go-round. Friends gave us their 10 gal, and their 'stuff' which I promptly threw out. I have set the tank up, sans fish, with a Rena hanging power filter, heater, undergravel filter w/charcoal inserts, and an air pump.
I am surprised how much I didn't know about the care of fish. I thought you just put them in water and let 'em swim. I was sure wrong. I've been lurking, and learned about cycling, and figured that's what did my goldfish in. I wanna be sure this time I do everything right, even thought it is 'just' a 10 gal, the fish are for my kids, and I don't want them to wake up some morning and see a 'floater'.
Well, feel free to email me or PM me anytime. I can't wait to start contributing to the community! Thanks.
