Can anyone tell me the species as well as the average adult size?

It's tough to tell for sure which L-number of pleco you have e_hiebs. Here is a site that has some pretty good photos of plecos. See which one matches your visual.

Try this link,

I looked at your pic's again and all I can say is, it doesn't look like mine. .

Could be a gibbiceps or hypostumus, both of which are "common" in the trade. +1 to size described above. One question: who's beating up the pleco? I noticed in 1st photo fins are kinda shredded.

Thanks guys. And I'm not sure what happened to his fins. I got him from a friends roommate who was not taking very good care of them at all. He had it in with a Jack Dempsey and another smaller cichlid I didn't know of. They were all constantly fighting and chasing each other (I guess he thought it was funny.) the one smaller cichlid died shortly after I transported them. So now it's just the Pleco and the Jack Dempsey And they don't bother each other at all.
