Wanting to add about 5 or 6 ghost shrimp to my 55gal. that at the moment is housing platy, neon tetra, an black skirt tetra.

Couple questions.

(1)...Should I be worried that the shrimp would become food for the stock that's in there now?

(2)...What is a good way to acclimate them from bag too the tank? Can you just float the bag like you can fish then pour them into a net?

I'm not too sure about the shrimp becoming fish food. The only ones that might give it a try are the black skirts but I have never kept shrimp with fish before

I also drip acclimate all of my fish and inverts the same way. I would suggest to use the process below

Thanks Cliff...for the links. I was fumbling through online pet stores an stumbled into foster&smiths store. they had a write-up there about acclamation very similar to the links you provided. which seems to be a very prof. way to acclimate. Again thanks 4 the links

Now If only I knew for sure I wasn't preparing a 2 hour dinner for my fish....:hmm3grin2orange:

Happy to report...Its been a week that i added my ghost shrimp, an the observation is as follows.

1. As long as they are 1"1/4" They are feared an accepted by the community.

2.If they are smaller...well they are just food for the community. :(

I put a couple of ghost shrimp in my 10 gallon and 3 large ones in my 55 gallon. They are rooming with Zebra Danios and Rasboras. So far the 3 in the 55 gallon are still doing well. In my 10 gallon - I just noticed 2 babies this morning. I don't know if there are more or not. I hope so! I have 3 Guppys in there, too.

That's great Pamela2heaven... I'm glad its going good for ya, an congrats on the new additions. I was a little concerned about my black skirts they really do see everything as food, but with the larger shrimp it looks like it might work out 4 me.
