My tap water has a pH of 9. I know thats way too high, but it drops to 7 after 2 days. I used to put some water in a bucket and let it stay overnight so i can do a water change the next day. My WC schedule is 15% everyday. In my smaller tanks this isn't really a problem because 15% is nothing. But in the 100 gallon i just bought. I don't know what to do with the water changes. I was thinking of upgrading to 20% but i don't know how to change 20 gallons of water daily. How do you guys do it? Do you suggest anything?

I don't have a 100G but I do have a 55 which needs alot of water changed too but i think the easiest way to get it out is to syphon it with a hose out of the window if possible but to put it back in I usually have to use buckets because you have to dechlorinate it first, if you have tap water which the chlorine will evaporate from (sometimes it doesn't because its a different type of chlorine which wont evaporate) then it may be a good idea to set up a large water butt or something to keep water in whilst the chlorine is evaporating and you can tp it up with a hose pipe each time (there was probably an easier way to put that but I hope you get the idea) and by the way :O you have monkeys!?!?

Thank you for the suggestion, but i dont think i can put a bucket outside the window. I found some 5 gallon bottles, i got 4, so that might work. But if anyone has an easier way?
Yes, i have 2 monkeys, they are soo cute!!

Good lord. Drops from 9 to 7 in 2 days? What do you have in the tank? Any driftwood/peat, etc? What test kit do you have? Generally the test kit that can measure up to 9.0 can't measure 7.0 (which is why there are high range and low range pH kits) Are you sure it was 9.0?
Try measuring the pH of the tap before and after it has been sitting in a bucket for 24 hours. Usually they will be a bit different, though I doubt by 2.0.

you could try a large garbage pail to put the water in over night i hook up a hose to my sink run it to the garbage pail fill it up treat it and let it sit over night when i do my 90 gal it saves me running up and down the stairs too many times and i use a icecream bucket to take the water from the garbage pail to the tank ( the garbage pail is only used for this purpose )

This is what i meant, i put it drops from 9 to 7 overnight. But it may take 2 days.
I have some driftwood in the tank

Take the driftwood out for the time being. Then test the pH of tap water straight from the faucet, and after 24 hours of sitting in a bucket.
What pH test kit do you have btw?

I will do that.
I use the API and the Tetra kits, they both gave me the same readings.
