i have three piranha's in a tank with 2 oscars and a common pleco. all are about 3 years old and have lived together the whole time. about once a month my piranhas mate and there are millions of eggs all over the bottom of my tank...after 2 days my tank is infested with mini piranhas...thankfully they eat all the mini flies that i cant seem to control...and then they die off....
how do i keep them alive.

you have a tank full of predators... I'm surprised any of the eggs are around long enough to hatch. anyways, if you want to keep them alive you'll need to scoop them out and have a cycled tank ready for them. having a sponge filter in the main tank makes cycling a small fry tank easy and no worries of a filter sucking them up..
try to keep it barebottom so you can easily see leftover food/waste that needs to be vacuumed frequently. baby brine shrimp and other tiny frozen foods are your best bet. crushed flake may work, may not. in any case, it should not be their staple food.
best of luck getting a batch of piranha fry!

Crispy pretty much hit it on the head. You will need a tank dedicated to the fry once they hatch. Otherwise, they will just become a snack for the larger fish.

Several state prohibit the selling of piranha's so if you happen to live in one of those states, you wouldn't be able to get rid of them anyway. Not knowing what state you live in, you may want to check for yourself? Some states even prohibit the transporting of them through their State.
