My big idea

Ok, I got a big idea just now and I want to know if it will work. Can I take one of my empty 10g tanks and make it into a tank for firebelly newts and place a betta in there as well? I have all the equipment for it including in-tank filters and the works but will they all get along fine? I plan on lots of live plants and such.

um, don't newts need a temp of like 60 F and bettas 80F? I have heard it is not a good idea because they can transfer diseases to each other. But i really don't know a whole lot about amphibians so take my advice with caution.

Well the newt can have a temperature of 85, but it's best to have a tank half water half land for the newts..maybe you should think about JUST one or 2 newts? That is IF they can even be paired off.

I wasn't going to get one but one or two newts. I was thinking around room temp. because bettas can handle that and newts like it around 76 F.
