hello
I have alot of experiance with air guns and now wish to buy a new one.
I have always wanted a Co2 or a quick reloder of some type.
The top of my list is one of these crosmans 1077 , Ratcatcher, king ratcatcher, 2260 rabbit stopper or even the rat buster and if you can think of anything similar thats also good.
It will be used many for plinking bit also some pest control.
When you read this it probly sounds like i hate rats but i real have them as pets!
thanks bas
i've always wanted an official Red Ryder carbine-action, two hundred shot Range Model air rifle BB gun with a compass in the stock and a thing which tells time!
yay for Ralphie
Drumachine09 is into guns but is away right now. Hopefully he'll see this when he returns.

I have a red ryder pettery sweet plinkers but only plinkers real easy and fast reloading and are often very acurate. A good gun to start with but the lack of power makes it a bit boring after a while you may want a stronger powered air gun. Such as some of the Crosmans or Daisys.

No matter how cool that would be to have, words cant describe how impractical it would be.
If you are looking for a nice air rifle, i would shy away from CO2 air rifles. In my opinion, they suck. The seals rot quickly, you will constantly be replacing O-rings (no matter how well lubricated you keep them).
Your best bet for a quick shooter would be a bolt action PCP(pre-charged pneumatic) in .177, .22, or even .25, depending on what you plan on shooting/hunting with it. For rats, moles, gophers, squirrels, chipmunks, and the like, i would go with the .177 and a nice hollow pointed pellet. Ive had amazing luck with the "premier brand" pellets in hollow point that you can purchase at walmart. When you get into rabbits and larger game, a .22-.25 would be more efficent.
If you are looking for a cheap gun that shoots great, check local gunshows or farm sales. Ive got 3 $20 pellets (2 .177 underlever actions and 1 .22 break barrel) that, with a few minor modifications, are GREAT rifles.
Another slower loading rifle is the Benjamin Sheriden. Its a multi pumper, like older/cheaper/walmart models, but you can achieve the speed, and power of a slower .22 caliber rifle with around 10 pumps. That is by far my favorite one.
If you have your heart set on dropping money on a CO2 rifle, i reccomend the "air force condor" in .22. It is the fastest .22 in production (not for long, from what ive been hearing), and it is a great gun. Ive shot a few of these, and i was very impressed.
Just remember, dont shoot cheaply made pellets out of an expensive gun. Not only will it shoot terribly, there is also the possibility of damaging the action and or barrel.
Heres the link to the condor:

Like in any hobby, the "better" the product, the more expensive it will be.
If you think the PCPs are expensive, it would be better for you to go with a hand action rifle, IE, Side lever action, under lever action, or pump. You can find a decent Beeman for around $100 USD, but you can get the remington Genisis for around $200 USD.
It all depends on what you are wanting to do with it.
Give me a more elaborate description of how you want your rifle to perform, and ill recomend one.

Plus proof of hunting effectiveness, .22 air arms s400 carbine.
But if you are lookin for a good air rifle you can't go far wrong with a good quality break barrel by BSA

Thats a nice little carbine. I dont know what it is about them, but i cant stand the short barrel. Less accurate and louder, but id imagine it shoots great.
Im not a fan of anything BSA. I bought a scope from them once, and the cheapy dovetail clamps got stripped after only a few magazines through a .22.

I recommend BSA because their mid range break barrels are some of he best value for money on the English market. Also the BSA factory is only 45mins from were I live.

I would also reccomend the old style Webley and Scott air rifles but not since they have been taken over by a chinese company, the quality has dropped substantially and the price hasn't . I'm not sure of the market for air rifles in the US but look on a good website and pick sensibly priced one, remember, you get what you apy for.

Get yourself one of those break barrell Crosmans for like 70$, I love mine. 177 and shoots 1000fps, powerful enough to kill crows and the like. Pretty accurate too for what it is.
