Last sunday I bought a Bumblebee Catfish for my 38g tank. It was only about 1 1/2". I think my Pictus ate it since I can not find it. My Pictus has eaten 4 of the 5 Ghost Shrimp that were in my tank. My Huge Sterbas Cories don't eat fish. My Glass Catfish only eat Frozen food, but I do not think it eats fish. My Bristelnose Plecfo only eats Alge so I am pretty sure it is the Pictus.

I have two questions. I have 5 Hatchets in my 10g. If I buy another Bumble Bee Catfish could I put it in my 10g till it gets bigger like 3" then place it with the other Cats in the 38g or is the 10g going to be overstocked?

What Size do Bumblebe Catfish get to? Does 7" sound right?

Well, before writing the eulogy for your bumblebee, take a good look around all the nooks and crannies of your tank. We have a 2.5" bumbleecatfish in our 10g and we usually have to do some searching to find him. In a 38, he's going to be even harder to find. Try looking at night, he might come out and be easier to spot.

But just to get a few things clear
1. How big is the Pictus?

2. What kind of bumblee catfish did you get? The reason I ask is that there is a south american version that stays small, and an asian version that get BIG.

If it's the south american variety (Microglanis iheringi) it'll stay small, about 3" as an adult. Depending on what you already have in the 10g, he should be fine. We have one with 4 platies and it's pretty much the limit for our tank. When we had 5 platies, our tank was showing signs of being overstocked so it's up to you to see how things are in your tank. With 5 hatchets, I think it would be the limit of what the tank could handle.
