Honestly, it's a good thing it's taking me forever to get my tank because it's taking me forever to paint this stand.

I asked for acyrlic BLACK and got this god-awful crummy gray shown in the picture. I mean, could it be any further from black compared to the stand next to it? I painted it twice thinking a second coat might darken it. Nope. I took the paint back and asked them to add more black pigment. Painted it again and it was still ugly gray. Then I added a high gloss varnish thinking maybe if it had a shine to it, it would appear blacker. Nope.

Today I gave up the ghost and got hi-gloss BLACK paint and painted it again for the 4th time. And it is black finally. (One more coat to go.)

If the tank was somewhere besides staring me in the face all day, I could have dealt with it but uck........I do think they could have given me a discount on the paint I bought today since the first paint was obviously not mixed correctly but no way. $42 invested in paint for this stand. sheesh!

Painting something 6 times is a bit excessive?

So you've got like 15 coats of paint on the thing. Glad you finally got black! Should be one heck of a durable finish!

In case the screws fall out, the paint will hold it together. LOL

You have to admit that sometimes complusive behavior pays off. I did notice that it is getting much heavier with all those coats of paint. :c5:

And now I can move on and tackle my really hard project.......

This entertainment center that needs to be sanded by hand, all the hardware moved, the tank set up on the floor for now....... nice doing this in the summer months while the air conditioner is going, tho. Paint dries very fast. In about two days, you will see this all black as well.

Hobbs is on a roll!

Wow! That grey is GREY...not even charcoal...

...geez...they shouldn't have charged you for getting black if that's what you asked for initially...

So funny. Most people put TVs in their entertainment centers. We go and put aquariums in ours. The freaks of the furniture world!

I said I'd have this done in 2 days! HA. It's done now.

Yea, my TV stand. My stand was falling apart so the TV went on the floor and the fish got cobs to that stand.

I will definately sleep tonight. Bone tired!

Does it look like it belongs to the fish and not the TV?

Hehe, yes it does look like a TV. I also love how the black is shinning.

since the fish own you, they must own all your posessions by proxy.

if it were me i'd have demanded the correct colored stand. looks like you have the same wal-mart stand and 55 gallon tank that i do.
