I don't like them one bit!!! I bought 3 albino corys yesturday just because they seemed cool and they would stand out good in my dark gravel. Also, I figured I would add some variety to my tank.
I bought them anticipating that they would mainly be on the bottom, specifically the bottom 1/4 of the tank.

Well I was in for a surprise, they are swimming all over the tank and I think it takes away from my other fish, they are huge. (about 2 inches)
Still fun to watch but kind of annoying swimming in with the other fish.

Just thought I would vent a little, I'm not that bad just think it's rather amuzing.

Maybe they just haven't settled in yet. I noticed that my pandas used to swim up and down along the glass at certain times of the day but they didn't do it all the time. I bet yours will settle down and get to work soon.

Hahaha, that is all mine do.
Mainly the 2 big ones. The small one is just digging up all my gravel. I am about to try and feed them again but I have a post up in the catfish section about feeding them. I was looking for some recommendations on how I should feed them and how ofter.

A. cories have a labyrinth organ, so they will hit the surface to breathe air from time to time

B. they are just going through the process of getting used to the tank and its area, they will probably chill out and stay near the bottom most of the time after they are done acclimating to their new habitat.

my cory I have now does laps across the tank (she is doing it now, I think its cute) she also digs in the gravel and pokes at plants and such. (artificial plants, I took the live ones out, too many snails) I recently bought some fish food especially for bottom feeders, only broke up 1/2 a tablet to start. I will get 2 more cories have to wait though because of money issues. I will get them beginning of next month. also quarantine tank has to cycle some. (tank for new fishies)
maybe my cory does laps to keep busy? anyhoo.........

Cories take time to settle in the tank. I own like 6 of them and they all rarely leave the bottom, as Zerileous said. I feed mine sinking wafers, carnivore pellets, algae wafers, and they even will eat from my hand when I feed frozen food some. They are scavengers so they eat what hits the bottom.

I have cories in all of my tanks - they are usually very active when they first get added - I think they are just being curious - once they settle down they usually stick to the bottom except fro an occasional dash to the surface. I usually don't feed them anything special - they seem content with whatever hits the bottom.

Give them time to settle in, with that said, a happy cory is an active cory. Also, if you have both males and females they will chase each other around the tank alot.

Well I just came back from 4 days vacation and my sister did a very good job at maintaining my tank (15 years old). Anyways, they are all just roaming around the bottom but still very active. So I guess I can say I am satisfied now with them.
