I need some help. I went on a short vacation and while I was gone my amazon puffer (freshwater puffer) (living alone in his tank) got too cold. Well the water in the tank went down to 62F. I relized that my heater wasn't working so I replaced the heater and now the water is up to 80F and the poor thing is just laying on the bottom of the tank. He has been like this for the last two days. He doesn't seem to be eating and only gets up a few times to swim then drops back down to the bottom. I don't know what else to do for him. I really need help, I don't want to loose my puffer (charlie). If anyone has some suggestions on what to do, I know that he is probably just suffering from stress but is there any way to get him back to his old self again? Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions.
We don't have much information here to go on, so let's get some basics. Tank size, tankmates, filtration, water changing schedule, feeding schedule. Water parameters?

You must keep a very cool house for your water to have dropped to 62! Once you realized what had happened how fast did you bring it back to 80? Chances are your guy is just stressed and possibly in shock if the temp change was too quick. Same as acclimating a new fish to a tank, you have to increase temps slowly.
Since you have been home, have you checked your water parameters? Or done any water changes? Sometimes with a poor puff a w/c does wonders! Check your ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, do a w/c if necessary and if all is well turn the light off and give him a day or 2 to rest in peace and quiet. Check him to make sure he isn't getting worse or showing other symptoms of illness, but let him de-stress.
Good luck:c5:
