hya,
i have got a pond, we built it spring last summer, we have 3 big koi and a variety of bout 15 other fish, goldfish, shabumkins, sarasa and smaller koi.

about 7 days ago we watched with pleasure all our fish frolicking, apart from the big koi, and we thought they could have been breeding, anyway we have just got back yesterday from a luvly week away, and we found the pond was full of little eggs, we thought wow,but today there were hardly any, so we,ve been scanning the internet and have plucked out plants with whats left of the eggs and put them in a dish of pond water on our windowsill inside because it is geting cooler outside.

the eggs are clear so we dont know if they have already hatched, how long does it take for them to hatch, are we too late

any advice greatfully received thanx

could be goldfish eggs. they can take the cold. it takes any where from 2 to 4 day to hatch. if they hatch they need flood of food. each female can lays up to 100,000 eggs. so some will hatch and grow up. how big is your pond, the bigger the better. in the dish on the windowsill they will die. they will eat every eggs they can find. plus any youngs that hatched out if they can get them.

agreed i had like hundreads of goldfish born but in the end only about 30 grew up lol. even though we separated the pond into 1/3,2/3. 1/3 for babies somehow the gold fish jumped over the net.

Add some airation to your bowl to increase the chance that the eggs hatch.

in case it is your Koi fish and not your goldfish that has spawned for you.
