I dont know if its just me but for some reason i do not like the way my tank is coming out (aquascaping wise). It must be from all the wonderful tanks i see on youtube, on here and all over the web. Im a beginner of anything planted and havnt experienced plants maturing and so forth. I Love anubias and i know its a very slow grower but just have doubts about the way i have it in my tank. Lady Hobbs says im to hard on myself when i sent her a vid of my tank i just want to get more thought on this subject. Just doesnt look anywhere natural or filling looks plain to me...
Some things im looking for :
-Do you like it Y/N?
-What will and wont work for my tank the way it is(in the future) .
-What i can do to improve it/What would you do to improve it IF I PAYED YOU:hmm3grin2orange: .
Here is a pic of the full tank as well as a before vid and what i just did to it just now current vid.

It's a decent start but you need more hardscape in there. Get some nice decorative rocks and work on a more natural looking hardscape.

Im planning on adding some dwarf sag so the floor doesnt look so bland and maybe some large smooth river rocks ? The thing that hurts the most to me is that piece on top of the driftwood which i dont know if im going to keep but you can see what i was trying to get from that but dont know any other way to get the anubias high enough to fill out the background.

Yeah, I agree. But you're off to a great start and the bows are beautiful. You'd be surprised at what a couple of well placed natural looking rock will do for a tank.

It's a nice looking tank. If you paid me, I think I would lay the driftwood on the left of the tank down, and put some tall plants behind it. Maybe one or two swords of some sort or some hygro. Then I would plant some red wendti crypts in front of the other piece of driftwood and in the middle.

Your off to a great start with your tank
I can't offer any better suggestions than what has already been posted here
It would certainly be interesting to see you take the advice already given and a follow-up after pic or two.

BiGBlak...you have got a very beautiful tank to begin with. So remember this is jmo; Myself I don't like to balance out the tank, Having to try or mimic the other side. To me its appealing to see the higher focal point off center from either end. an get shallower going toward the other end giving a slope effect, whether it be plants, rocks, or whatever. or center your focal point to the center an have taller stuff on the ends an get shallower towards the middle to form a cove. I would still rate your tank a 9 out of 10.

I can't wait for you to get the dwarf sag since you've been stressed out over the anubius for a month.
Your tank is very clean and looks very nice. Cleaniness makes ALL the difference and yours is right up there! The only one you need to please is you and your fish. Stop stressing!

I like it! As Hobbs said...it's very clean looking and thats my preference. What about burying your airstone? Your Rainbows are beautiful! What is the fish that have the longer fins? Those are pretty!

I buried my air stone like that too. Big Blak, you could easily add more driftwood and attach the rest of your anubias to it. Add a few taller plants in the back to hide your air lines and call it good. More wood piled up will give your pleco a hiding place, too.
Or lay your airstone on the bottom and pile wood on top of it.

BTW......your substrate looks awesome. I wouldn't worry much about stem plants at all since you're pleco will probably tear things up some as he grows.

That's aquariumplants.com substrate. He ordered the Amazon. It's all I use and I love it!

A 5 gallon bucket does a 55 gallon nicely.

Your tank is going to keep looking better and better as your plants grow

I know you're not happy with it, but if i showed this tank to my hubby, he'd want it over ours. Your tank would fit perfectly in my house :ssmile:
I really like how clean and neat it is. I don't know what the plants are that you're wanting to put in, but when you do add it, I hope you post some more pictures.

Tank looks really good, I would put in a wall of vals along the back it would hide your equipment and really finish the tank out. Adding a couple of bronze/brown/red crypts would add a necessary splash of color as well.

It's a lovely looking minimalist tank as it is! It's character will develop as it grows in, but since I want your theoretical money, I'd suggest adding some plants with a different color or texture (something more fern-y or red) for variety. Subject to your lighting conditions of course.

Looks nice! Needs time to mature is all... If you're looking for better coverage with Anubias, try the larger leaved varieties like Barteri. You could use an Echinodorus Bleheri specimen to block out much of the equipment.
The background is fine. Looks bland because the plants need to grow in in front of it ;)

You have some nerve!
Posting a great looking tank and inviting criticism. Argh!
You're probably good looking and smart too. Sheesh!
