Every time i try opening an account or joining a forum or even making a new email, i have to type the letters and or numbers on the image. What is the point for this? And, why do they make them so darn hard to read that you have to try for like 4 times to finally get through?

it is to protect against bots, or small programs that can register accounts en masse. It helps prevent :spam:. If they were easy to read then they would be easy to overcome. The addition of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software would allow a program to read and enter the code.
