I have 6 of these in my tank. 5 of them are yellowish/goldish across the top half and the bottom half is silver, but one of them is blue on across the top half and bottom silver. I have looked at pics of Boesmans, but mine are different. Boesmans are front half blue and backend orange right? Mine all have a darker line that runs tail to gills. Anyone know what they are?

Is the blueish one a The Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish? Are they all The Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish?

Female boesemani's are gold. The males have the front half in blue.
Also, they don't reach full colors until maturity. The other rainbow in your photo looks like a turquoise. (Lake Kutubu)

You will get more evidence as they mature.

Here are my males just coming into their blue color. They are probably 7 months old and the blue is just now surfacing. (Boesemani's)

Also my male and female turquoise. No difference in their appearance other than the male is larger and when spawning, he will flash different colors on his head from bright red, orange, yellow. Since this is the only turqoise in my tank, he no longer flashes his colors because he has no other males to warn off.

You can get more of either ones if you want. They don't pair up like angels do and even if you have more females than males or vise versa, they are fine. I ended up with 5 males and one female. She was kept busy! but she was fine.

I gave mine to my son. After I gave them to him, a few weeks later these appeared in my tank. Babies that managed to survive. They spawn in the mornings but once spawning is done, they go about their business ignoring each other pretty much. The guys kinda hang together and the gals go off somewhere else. Kinda like in real life. :)
