rollie
05-13-2006, 12:01 AM

tieu
05-13-2006, 12:07 AM
ok thanks, those oscars go with either convicts or khois then

rollie
05-13-2006, 12:12 AM
do not put oscars with your khois. oscars is like a baby rattersnake, if the baby rattersnake bite you, you will die.

tieu
05-13-2006, 12:13 AM
convicts? with oscars, can the khois survive in warm water with my little fish(neons, gupies....)

rollie
05-13-2006, 12:16 AM
when you say khois you mean koi ?

tieu
05-13-2006, 12:18 AM
yer lol

rollie
05-13-2006, 12:22 AM
that what i though. koi can take water up to about 80f. they will grow to 2 feet long in time and live for 40 years. they will eat anything they can catch.

tieu
05-13-2006, 12:24 AM
so not good to put with neons and danios then

rollie
05-13-2006, 12:27 AM
sorry, but it not.

tieu
05-13-2006, 02:48 AM
hmmmm so koi cant go with anything but goldfish then. lol

rollie

you can put them with other fish, but it might be better to kept them with themselfes or fish of eqaul size.

I don't thnk your ever got the answer about wether it was possible to keep convicts with Oscars, which it is.

Keep in mind that oscars grows fast when you think about what to keep it with. If its 2 inch now it might very well be 6 inch in six months and than it easily eat many of the fish you mentioned.

I know poeple that keep larger Koi with Oscars successfully but I agree with Rollie and wouldn't recommend it.

the crappy 9 convicts dont even go near the koi they just fight each other while the koi is swimming pass. its like the koi doesnt even notice the convicts and for the convicts vice versa so yer ill probs keep the convicts with the koi and might add oscars. wen i go near to take a look the bloody only fish you can see is the koi because all the convicts ran away to hide.

William

Ok. The koi might make the Convict less afraid as they learn that it safe to be out.

tieu

put a human like doll or sumthing near the tank so that they think its real and they might get used to people

William
05-17-2006, 04:42 PM
Where does the tank stand?

Is it somewhere that you are a lot? Do you try to walk carefully not to scare them near the tank?

tieu

yer the tank is in the kitchen so we are always around. even walking carefully near the tank they somehow know. then after about 30 seconds they come out and start fightig and chasing. if we sit quiet. so yer. btw i put my 2.5 inch oscar with my 5danios 6gupies, 2litle catfish,2 gouramis, and 6 something that is white that looks like an uaru but i dont know what their called. the oscars seem to be geting along with all and its been 2 weeks. the oscar is big enough to eat the guppies and danios buut i dont know why hes not eaten them yet. so i have decided not to take him out to put with convicts yet. the wwhite fish that looks like uaru ate all 8 of my neons :(. my friend said they werent aggresive fish.

id be careful with with the oscar even though it hasnt eaten the fish now it might just make sure hes well fed
Can you get pics of this white fish?

BTW i kept my oscar until he was 7 inches with a 4 inch blue gourami and they got along fine i think as long as the fish grows up along side the other fish it should be alright but no certanty

prawns as in the ones we eat or they have their own prawns cause wen i put prawns in the tank they ate it but it was kinda stinky after that. fish meals? feed them other fish?, earthworms? we dig from backyard? lol

William
06-15-2006, 02:20 AM
prawn as in the ones we eat. However they should be fresh or frozen. Not in salt or any other liquid.

cut the prawns or shrimps into suitble sizeable pieces and feed your fish no more thn what they can eat in a few minutes. remove any leftovers.
