View Full Version : Identification of a flat wormy type thing

I just noticed a few flat and relatively fast moving planarian-like creatures in a small tank I'm using as a cherry shrimp nursery. Apologies for the quality of the photographs, but it was the best I could do with a point and shoot and a loupe. Does anyone have any idea what the heck these beasties are?

Congrats, you have Planarians in your tank. Awful things, and almost impossible to get ridd of.

As long as you only have a few, ignore them, but if you got loads of them you really have a problem.

I heard Bettas love them, but most of the other fish ignore them.

The way you got them? Probably because of an planarian eggs infected plant.

I've heard that mollies love them too

nanaglen is right. They are caused by overfeeding. Cut back on your feeding and give your gravel a good vacuuming to pick up any excess food lying there.

Seems to be doing the trick on getting rid of them. Thanks!

Glad that was of service for you. I had them in my daughter's betta tank as well. Vacuuming and cutting down on the feeding did the trick there.
