So I went to Walmart to buy some windex, and I decided to look at the shop lights again.... Now keep in mind that this is a different wally world that I normally go to, but they had a 2 ft. plug in shop light that runs 2 24 inch florescant bulbs, for UNDER $10.00. I was amazed...I bought that bad boy and took the single bulb back.... Now I have 40 watts of light in my 29 gallon tank. As of now, I have 1 flora glo in it and one bulb that came with the light, but tomorrow I am gunna buy a aqua glo to put with the flora...but anyways.... Could I spray paint the light flat black to match my tank?? It is small enough to keep the flip part of the hood, so I just took the light strip off. The light itself is white. Would the hood emit odor upon heating up from the bulbs?? Thoughts, opinions??

Heh, lesson of the day: Ask dad about stuff before buying it. The new light has a 3 prog plug in, and the old had a 2 prong. The problem with this is my light timer only has 2 prongs. I was going to spend another 12 dollars on a timer with 3 prongs, when I asked my dad and he said he has an 3 to 2 prong adapter... Hehe, he saved me 12 dollars, and even if I had to buy one, there like... 3 bucks... heh.. thanks dad..

You might be able to use a spray appliance paint?

Does this light have a good reflector on it?

If not then you really do not have 40 watts over your tank because some of the shop lights power will be lost as it is not directed in the tank.

All i am saying is that if you are going to use the WPG rule as concrete decision on what plants you can get, you may not be as high as you think and you will need to play it by ear.

Yea the hood has a good reflector in it.....my tank looks nice a bright lol....I don't know if it is just me. But the plants look so much greener and they seem to have had a major growth spurt....I'd say around 2 inches in the half week I've added co2......good stuff......

Use krylon fusion on plastics.

Also, you could have just cut the ground off.

I bought an aqua glo bulb today.... so theres that and the flora glo in my hood..... are these lights good for plants? It is rather dimmer than the lights that came in the hood from wally world. but I figure they are the correct spectrum, so brighter isnt always better....:19:

Not that you can break off that 3rd bottom round pin in a plug because it's just a ground. However, when dealing with water and such I would want a ground on all my plugs.
