All my livebearers died a week ago, my brother killed them all. Ever since the tank has been empty. It was a 55 gallon, but i will be moving my discus fish to the 55 gallon. My 44 gallon will be empty and i'm having a hard time of thinking what to put in them. I dont want a species tank, i want a mix of a couple of species, and i love a tank when its over stocked.

Overstock is bad. I have angels, severums, gouramis, silver dollars, pleco, bichir, and cory's all in mine and they do fine. My inverts include bamboo shrimp and apple snails. I love angels just because they look different and are really friendly and halfway interact with you. Bichirs are cool as well. Severums are my favorite cichlid because it is a lot more timid than most cichlids.

i was thinking of adding some silver dollars..
I dont like angels lol.. They look good alright, but they make me want to take them out of the tank and and break them in half.
I dont like the bichirs, they look like lizards.
Is there anything else that can go with silver dollars?

I can't help but ask...why did your brother kill all your fish?

He couldn't sleep at night, so he was looking at the aquariums, and he thought the water was blurry, so he added a water conditioner that clears up the water, but you need to add it before you put the fish in a couple of days since it has chemicals.
When i got up, i saw that 4 of my tanks were blurry, i could barely see the fish, so i asked him if he put anything, and he said no, after screaming at him, he showed me what he had put inside. I made him cry.
My other 3 tanks had only 3 deaths, but i only had 2 hands, and i changed my livebearer tank last, by the time i changed the water, they had all died. There were like 40 of them floating on the top or on the bottom.

How about a tank of dwarf cichlids.

Oh man, your poor brother! He must have felt terrible for that mistake. I'm so sorry you lost so many fish. That is a total bummer.
My friend's husband accidently wiped out a entire tank of fish the other day when he cleaned the tank with something that didn't rinse out all the way. He was really bummed since it was his 4 yr old son's tank. The boy was not too upset though. When they put the fish to rest the dad asked if he wanted to say anything and the boy said, "Adios, Muchachos."

If you want a variety, I don't see anything wrong in going with a good old community tank. Several schools of tetras and rasboras. A bunch of corys.

Dwarf cichlids, senegal bichir, shrimps, gouramis, corys, goldfish, 1 oscar, 2 jack dempseys, other cichlids. There are sooo many different things you could do with a 44g.

I might go with goldfish lol. I hate them but i never really kept them. I might also go with malawi's. But im going to go fish hunting in about a 2 weeks when my new tank finishes cycling, and whatever i like i'm going to get.
I really want to do tetra's and other small fish, but they all die soo fast!!
