are floating plants okay for low light aquariums?

I don't have enough light for a planted tank since I just use a standard light strip with reflector and it holds a 25 w light, but it works fine for lighting the tank. I know there are types of floating plants, do any of these work well with what is considered low light for plants and no CO2? I have 2 plastic plants that suction cup to the tank walls for my sparkling gourami and figure they would probably love some type of floating plant. I don't even want to consider a CO2 unit at the moment. Since my foray into live plants before knowing any better killed all of my plants (go figure! :roll: ) I have stayed away from live plants, but would consider floaters if they would work.

water spite and duck weed might grow for you. they grow good for me in tanks with low light level.

Thanks for the info Rollie. I have heard of both and will now get a pic and see if I can find it. Some petstores don't label plants, one that does has common and/or scientific names, never both! I believe from the one pic I do have of water sprite that I have had it before and my fish loved to eat it! I didn't realize it was a floating plant though so I stuck it into the gravel.

Water sprite has both a floating and a planted form. It develops very differently depending on how you plant it.

I'll have to look at them today....it is raining so no outside activity and we will probably end up running around to fish stores like usual!

It has become a regular event with us....we have several stores that are quite a ways away so we hit them some days, and more local ones others. And to think I used to party my weekends away (BC--before children)
