Bettas can indeed be quick-change artists. A friend of mine keeps commenting on one of her pale-scaled bettas and his tendency to be a different color every other day. And their colors do tend to brighten/darken/pop out when they get into a good tank

thanks genocide
and cyberra, yea but the red wasnt there at all before. He was full brightness and color on that first video, and then over time just started to turn red. Now hes turning black. I gotta find some batteries to make a new video. The original butterfly pattern he had before is back, hes now tri-colored blue base still, with the completely red fins, excep he now has a jet black border around all off his fins. And the dorsal has no more red, but instead solid black above the leopard spotted blue/green with shiny gold speckles, and it feathered to look really cool. He has expanded his tail even further, and when he flares the dorsal fits over it in an awesome way, especially with the feathers. Here, ill go find batteries right now.

It is widely known that a male betta in particular will change colors dependent upon how secure and "happy" he feels

He died. Got stuck under his plant, because he was a little too curious about something and he dug a hole that caved in and was pinned to the ground. Nobody was home. :( But these videos still show off his awesomeness anyway! :) He will be remembered as coolest fish i ever had. If he changed colors, going by what you said, he mustve been happy. And by the mood theory, he was a very viscious thing, so maybe he turned red because he was always angry...? Idk. Im not really that interested anymore now that i dont have a color changing betta.
