Angry serpae?

My 10 serpae tetras are always biting each other. Or not really biting, they don't seem to get any wounds, it looks more like "mouth-pinching" or something... Why are they so aggresive? Is there a risk that they will start really biting and hurting each other?

Serpae tetras are aggressive within the species and i think what you describes sounds normal and matches my experience with the species. They usually fight less after apecking order have been established.

It's common with schooling fish.......they will work out a pecking order amongst themselves, and often there will be one dominant fish that puts the others in their place now and then. It shouldn't be anything to worry about, usually the aggression is not severe enough to endanger any of the subdominant fish.

Yes, you're right, they are actually much more calm allready. Still some occasional attacks of course, but not at all like before.
