I am quickly growing bored of my livebearers and was thinking about getting something new. I want some easy to breed egg layers since it'd be my first time attempting this. Also something that doesn't need a HUGE tank.

Any suggestions?

What size tank/filtration/waterchange schedule will you be able to provide?

Also, what is the pH and dH out of your tap?

no idea about the Ph. so far I haven't had any problems with my other fish so I haven't had to check it.

a 20 gallon. And a smaller side tank if needed for young.

I would just like to raise some even if the end result is selling them to the fish store in town.

As long as there is water in the tank you should be good with convict cichlids.

Maybe Kribs? I read that they were quite easy as long as you have the requiremtents( stable ph, flat surfaces, hiding places, etc.)

What about Golden Dwarf Cichlids. I read they're easy.

I agree, a pair of Kribs would be great.

With convicts it is very simple, add 1 male and 1 female to water, a cave or some shelter would be good, once happy with there surroundings, you will have fry LOL

They don't even need caves, the ones at my work have bred in bare display tanks. Same with jack dempseys.

Apisto's are quite small, very colorful and breed very easily also.

If you are looking for fun and enjoyment I suggest you go for the fighters(betta splendens). They do not require much space and spawning is fairly simple. They usually spawn within two days after introduction.Tank space should be small,so as the pair will not lose sight and interest in each other. The female should be removed immediately after spawning and the male about a week after the fry are free swimming.Like all fishes the hard part is in raising the fry.

I was gonna do that. But my bettas don't pay any attention to each other. lol Maybe he is gay.

I'm hoping for chiclids of some sort.
