A couple weeks ago, I moved my female betta sorority into a 10-gallon tank, and unlike my other tanks this one has a filter. It won't be getting the 100% water changes and hot-water rinse that the unfiltered tanks get. So eventually I will be getting algae growth in the tank.

What critter would be best for algae control in a betta-infested 10-gal? Snail, cory, or something else?

Just cleaning it yourself works well. Limit lighting and food and you should not have algae issues.

A mystery (apple) snail would work in there. They're also about as much fun to watch as a betta! thumbs2:

I would wait another month or two though before you got one, just to make sure you have some algae in your tank.

I'm with rich here. There is no reason to get algae, really. Only tank I've ever had an algae eater in was a planted tank. But different algae eaters eat different types of algae.

As was stated above; clean it when it needs it. Nothing like getting in there and cleaning off whatever algae is present. My 55 gallon doesn't get enough algae to sustain my pleco so I find myself feeding the algae eater wafers and cucumber. Mind you the live plants are clean which is why I have the pleco. It was tough cleaning the algae off the plants with my fingers.
