Very cool fish for sure. What are the dimensions of his tank? Reminds me of a tiger pacing its cage in a circus exhibit.

Nice looking aro. He must be of good size to make a 6ft tank look so small.

Remenicent of a foot long oscar in a 10 gal tank.

Cool looking arow. He realy looks healthy and happy right now. It's really hard for me to accuratly tell the size of him and his tank from the video so I am sorry if I've miss judge the size, but looks about 18 to 24" long right now

Do you have any future plans for a tank up-grade when he grows to 3 feet long. Most people keep fully grown arows in tanks around 300 gallons or even larger ( starting at about 96 x 36 x 25).

He does look really nice tho

very nice looking fish, im guessing its 26 inches by just how small it makes the tank look.

I thing pearls top out at 2 ft so I think this one is full grown. That being said,a fish such as these is never kept in a big enough tank even if it is in a 6 ft tank. My remark about oscar in a 10 gal is a very good for instance. The foot long fish in a 10 to 20 gal tank has roughly the same swim room as a arowana in a 6 ft tank,as does a goldfish in a 3 gal bowl or even a beta in a vase. All 3 of which we as members would deride to no end. Yes this fish looks very healthy,no question he seems kept well so I'm sure its diet and water quality is up to par. An oscar in a 10gal,a goldfish in a bowl or a beta in a vase can all be healthy as well, not that they should be kept in that way.

hi all thank you for your reples yes the aro is 20inch and the tank size is 6 1/2 feet x 3 x 3.
right now he gets 3 50% water changes every week by a reverse osmosis pump plus he only has 2 more month in that tank as i have contracted a company to build me a 600 gallon tank which will then house 2 more aros when the 600 gallon tank is up and running i will get a video here to show you.
and belive you me i can not wait for the new tank. lol

You should start a journal for the new tank. I would love to see it all comes together.

I am curious how a Pearl that size is going to take to tankmates...I have seen them take down Dovii. If it works it will be awesome tho.

nice jardini. it's a huge gamble whether or not they will take kindly to tankmates. more often then not they will kill anything, but there are few instances where it does work. be prepared to seperate fish immediately when you do try to add. it's even harder to mix them at your aros size.

can't wait to see your new setup for him! be sure to keep us updated as there are only a few aro keepers on this forum.

hi Crispy yes m8t i know what you mean. i keep trying to introduce some fish like plecos. and the aro is fine with that but i have found out that as long as i don't add a bright colored fish he will just ignore them. so i think he see,s color as aggression. well lol i hope its that.

hi all there's been a change of plan instead of getting a 600 gallon tank my very good wife has given me permission to use the conservatory to build a 3000 gallon indoor pond. which will then give the aro enough space to allow other monster fish as tank mates. what i am going to do is video catalog the build from start to Finnish and post it here. if anyone here has any advise on what type of fish would go well in this type of tank and what type of filters would do the job well pls let me know.

I'm jealous. Don't know about the other stuff, but there is a sub forum called aquarium journals and you could do it there.

When it comes to ponds, you have the world at your finger tips when it comes to filtration. All it takes is a powerful enough pump and a little creativity. For example, just off the top of my head you could make a huge wet dry trickle filter with a series of pvc gutters filled with media and holes drilled in the bottoms. If you want, you could even top off some of the gutters with nitrate absorbing plants.

forgive the crappy diagram. All I have here is paint
