What are the bads for Coral Frags besides the fact they might die easier?
I've got a store near me selling frags for $5/$10 each.
LoL - everytime I think Frag, I think of Unreal Tournament and all the fun I had with that game.

Hahaha, i loved that game back in the day.
From what i understand, a lot of tanks are started with frags only. All of my corals are propegated (basically fragged), and mine are great.

LoL, ok, so Coral frags are ok then. I think I might get a couple, as I built little shelves on my life rock for them to sit. I am not sure if the lighting is enough, and I can't upgrade the lighting on the box, so I'll buy a couple frags for $5 and drop them after the tanks been up for a few months.
Thanks

tell us a little about your tank (lighting, size, stocklist, filtration etc) and what species of coral frags you want

24 Gallon Aquapod. It's more square than verticle, has enough light for the slightly less light-hungry corals. That is why I was asking about the Frags, they seem cheaper, so $5 -10 is not a waste to see ifthe lighting is alright for them in practice verses trying to spend hundreds of dollars and dremeling trying to cram better lighting into a hood that has already been known to overheat if left without the fans on.
I wanted to know if there was any downside to a coral frag to a normal $50 coral, so that I didn't go wasting mnoney and time researching individual ones.
20lbs live rock, sump-pump filter with sponges and bio balls. 250gph pump. Was 150, but upgraded it with one I had never used when I did computer water cooling, 1 small protien skimmer, and no stock, the tanks still cycling lol =P

it would be a good idea to take the bioballs out now while ur tank is cycleing, youll run into trouble if they arent regualrly cleaned out and maintained, that lighting should be okay for softcorals

That's what I was thinking about the corals, and I'll just try 1 at $5 after a bit of research and see what I can come up with. Drop it in, and see how it does. If it lives for a few weeks, I'll put in a 2nd on the second shelf I created and then probably leave it at that for corals.
I'm rinsing the balls every other day, like I was advised, so I'll leave them in, for now. Will see how things go. I'm testing the water every day when I get in from work to watch its progress.
