As a beginner who has fallen in love with tropical fish, I am trying to learn as much as possible as fast as possible. I love this site! I have already received good advice about feeding live mosquito larvae, and now I have a more serious issue.

I have a lovely red wagtail platy (male) called Dart who has just gone through round 1 of treatment for columnaris. He developed mouth fuzz and a speck on his tail fin on July 2 and next day went into a new 10 hospital tank where I treated him with Maracyn 2. He is looking much better, eating well, quite lively, but there's just a tiny edge of white on his mouth still. Question: should I do another round of Maracyn 2, or should I switch to another product?

He has a bio wheel filter, with carbon removed, ph 7.6, and I just did a 30% water change b/c the amonia had gone up to .25. Have added aquarium salt and used melafix in the tank. Hoping he'll make a full recovery, but not sure what to do next.

Thanks,

Fiona
