Hi guys,
This little guy came for a ride on some plants I found in a fresh water lake in Tasmania, Australia.
Anyone got any ideas what it might be? Friend or foe?

Cute looking thing. Being half a world away, I've never seen the likes around here. It almost looks like a small squid in a shell. I know you said fresh water TazManiac but it does. :ssmile:
Since no one has replied I thought I would "bump" this question back to the top.

Thanks for the reply. It looks more like a little shrimp or crab of some sort. He is very hard to photograph due to his tiny size.

What a weird little guy! It does look like some sort of crab to me but that shell is wacky!

I'd say its a caddisfly larva.

Dmagerl's got it. It's definitely a Trichoptera of some sort.
