Cherry barbs trying to breed

My cherry barbs have been trying to breed for almost 2 weeks with no success and i was wondering if its normal for it to take this long?:sconfused:

If your barbs are attempting breeding they probably are breeding.
Eggs are a wonderful source of tasty protein.

If I remember correctly Cheryl barbs eat there OWN eggs so a separate tank would be best the when they lay eggs remove them.
