what are your thoughts on formed fibreglass style backgrounds (the type that you actually put in the tank and silicone in!)?

You mean the ] Back to nature ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.) backgrounds?

If so: they are very nice, fish loves them but they are usally a little on the expensive side.
