I was cleaning out one of my ponds and I found this guy. He must have gotten in with a bucket of native fish that I put in there. Must have been pretty small then, since I didn't notice it and its been in there about 6 months now. It has the ability to be fully aquatic I guess, since there was nowhere in the pond for it to get out of the water. I moved it to his own tank.

Kind of looks like a mangrove crab species.

I honestly don't know much about crabs but holy guacamole I read while googling that Trinidad has something like 100 crab species. This is kind of like looking for a needle in a needle-stack

Trinidad Mountain Crab - Pseudotelphusa garmani ??

It looks like its similar to this one: http://www.sciencephoto.com/media/366800/enlarge

Yeah I know he wasn't identified, but thought the photo of one that if it was similar and being out on leaf-litter instead of completely submerged would help you out if you are thinking of keeping him and setting up his home.

You might also try emailing the website info@sciencephoto.com with the link and ask if they now know.
