View Full Version : Question on stunting growth

Noooo I'm not asking the best way to go about it

Purely a theoretical question. Say I have a bristlenose pleco (I do in another tank, but this is a new one for the purposes of this question), if it was the sole occupant of a 10 gallon all-but-bare tank along with some shrimp, do you think its growth would be stunted even though there are no other fish present really, or would the size of the tank be too small no matter what? I've seen people say 20s are ok for bristlenose, but you typically have a lot of plants/decorations and other fish, so that's what made me wonder.

Goes to 11!

It may not stunt him, But [Even if it doesn't] bn-plecs are social creatures and like bn buddys to hang around with & they are poo machines which will get ugly quickly in so small a volume of water.

So, In those respects it's a less than ideal scenario for the plec in question.
