Is a 5 gallon tank to small to use as a breeding tank for a couple of 2 inch angel fish. They would not be in it for very long, just till the eggs are fertilized.

2" angelfish are mature enough to breed? I would recommend keeping an internal filter in the main tank that you could transfer to the 5g when needed for biological filtration. You'd also need to do frequent water changes.

If you have 2" Angels they are either extremely stunted or not old enough to produce. Angels are usually 8-12 months old the first time they can reproduce. I think the smallest I've seen breeding Angels is in a 29g but that was just by themselves.

I guess when I say 2 inch I mean across the body - fin to fin they are probably 4 inches. And yes they are breeding whatever their size.
I do not have to worry about a 5 gallon being to small, got a super deal on an almost new 10 gal with a 50 watt heater and an AquaClear 20 for $20.00.
Thanks for the heads up funkman on the filteration, I am going to place the sponge filter from the Aquaclear 20 into the home tank until things are a go, by then it should be seeded.

That's still small considering the bodies get up to 6" in diameter with the fin-to-fin length being double that or more.
