I think I am officially done with Dwarf Gouramis. It looks like the one in my office tank is developing a head tumor, and that will be the third one that I have had with this problem. ARRGGGGHHH!
I am hoping that it is just some kind of injury to his head, but it looks like all the other tumors I have seen.
I'll try to get a pic. soon.:c11:

Yep, it's a head tumor...I will not be replacing this gourami!

Did you get your gourami's all at the same time from the same source. This is sure odd.

That's what is so weird, three different times, three different locations.
The head tumors all looked a little different, different parts of the head effected too.
I read somewhere (I think on wetpetz) that they are susceptible to head tumors, so maybe it is not that surprising.

I was turned off dwarf guarmi very soon in our fishkeeping days, we had a pair, 1 got what we narrowed down to dropsy, seemed there was no cure (after that I found an epson salt bath may help)/ anyway, the male left in the tank after putting the female in a quarentine tak, seemed to really fret, we put him in with his mate after reading that dropsy is not contagious, 2 days later the male just died showing no symptons of anything, the next day the female died?.
Can a fish die from a broken heart or fret?
Who knows, but that was the end of dwarf guarmi for us.

This is crazy, everyone always talks about their problems with their gouramis. My gouramis have been perfectly healthy since the day I got them, I have only had them for 4 months though.

Not to sound B*tchy or anything but I have had my guy(Gourami) for almost 5 years now...he is a survivor I tell you we have had SOOO many probs with that tank from the kids dropping M&M's in it, to the tank springing leaks, water problems like crazy in the beginning, a case of ICH, and I could keep going on. He survived all of it and he is still with us today but...every time we tried to get him a friend they were not so lucky, so we gave up and stuck with him alone...he seems to like it better that way. Sorry to hear about your fish.ood Luck with whatever you choos to do now.

Thanks for all the replies. I am glad to hear that at least a few people have had success with their dwarves.
