The ammonia is still there today. I guess the good news its still at .25ppm. Guess I'll be doing a PWC today.

One thing that confuses me. We have tap water with .50 ppm ammonia and super high Ph so I use Seachem Neutral Regulator to bring the ph down and remove the ammonia. So if I'm used this stuff that's supposed to "remove ammonia" why would I ever have an ammonia reading? Unless I didn't put in enough at last water change on Sunday.

I reposted this cuz it looked to be getting lost in the threads. I got an answer on the orginal post. Sorry for the double post.

Your fish are likely just producing slightly more than the biofilter can handle. Usually something like this corrects itself fairly quickly as you already have a good bunch of bacteria.

Agreed with Robbie that the bioload is outpacing your bacteria culture, but I think Skarloeys has had ammonia for quite some time. Am I remembering that properly?

I thought it was 2 or 3 days

Actually all three of my tanks have been 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and kept in the under 20 Nitrates range for quite a while. I think that's why this ammonia reading is freaking me out. I haven't done any tank redecorating before so I guess I should expect some upset. The fish all seen fine though. I'm just gonna ride it out and see what happens.

Probably best. Just keep monitoring your water parameters and you should be fine.

I can stop obsessing now! We're back to 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, 5 Nitrates. You guys were so right! I should have just kept an eye on it and not worried. If only it were that easy. Worry is what Moms do. :ezpi_wink1: The good part of this whole experience is that I learned a lot. I couldn't have done it without you guys! THANKS!

Congrats - I get a little carried away cleaning sometimes and wind up going through the same thing - drives me crazy trying to balance keeping the tank free of bad nasty stuff but full of good nasty stuff!

Good to hear you're on track, Skarloeys. Great job.
